ADS Weekend

Today was the first day of the two ADS weekends! Honors kids from all over the States come in to take the merit-based scholarship test and learn more about MSU. I get to go chat with them at the fancy Banquet and convince them all to join the wonderful world of the Spartans.
And when I'm done, I get to have the Dean of the Honors College instruct me to apply for the Udall Scholarship...

Okay, I looked it up--I don't think you qualify...

Sorry.

Actually, I'm doing a fair amount of natural resource sustainability and development through my International Development degree. And I'm going on a study abroad program called "Green Israel." That, with my food security work last year (remember the poster Granna had to bring?) and my intention to do that for my senior thesis in Madison, is enough. According to Dean Jackson-Elmoore.

Note that the Scholar Orientation is August 4-8. I believe that will interfere with your Princeton program??

Note that I wouldn't be applying until next year.

Ah...although I see you can apply both sophomore and junior years...

I definitely think you should go for it and tithe to Wesley. (@CMU). (OK, @MSU).

On a totally unrelated topic, I think you should give all your tithe to Wesley@MSU rather than UUMC, since UUMC is bleeding Wesley@MSU (and therefore Wesley in general) and has been for years, and doesn't seem in the least interested in changing this.

Although I also think that part of "tithing" is letting go of control of your money.
Hmm. Life is complicated.

I do believe that I am a member of University UMC and have vowed to "uphold it by my prayers, my presence, my gifts, and my service."
: )
Wesley got almost as much. And if you consider the amount of time and money I spent on Wesley's members, much, much more.
That being said, we're working on it. Patience, dude. People don't like it when I move their cheese.
