Quilts and Health

I attended a really fun reception tonight at the MSU Museum about multiple projects making use of art to promote discourse around issues of public health and disease.  We learned about dolls made in South Africa speaking to the devastation of HIV/AIDS; dolls made in America to help give women a voice in speaking out against AIDS, domestic violence, bleeding diseases, and poverty; quilts made to give voice to Alzheimer's.  It was quite the evening!
A really great blog with more about the ways art and health intersect and can help each other: http://quiltsandhealth.wordpress.com/
